Closer to Architecture

After my first paper explorations, I wanted to work on something a bit less abstract and closer to an actual architectural construction.

This is one of the very first pieces I created by combining multiple distinct elements. It’s quite unique in that it mixes folded components with flat 2D pieces. A bit like a puzzle, the parts come together by following instructions, similar to a toy model kit.

Toward a Modular System

Being somewhat obsessed with constraints and process, I needed a clear framework to guide me through this newly acquired freedom. So I focused on symmetry and the repetition of identical elements to create rhythm and structure.

This piece was both a study and a proof of concept, part of my intention to develop an open modular system.

You’ll notice three design variations for the “arches”: square, triangular, and curved.
All three versions are included.
