Modern Houses

Where It Comes From

My years spent in the studios of the architecture school in Old Quรฉbec City have had a lasting influence on my practice. This was before the internet, or almost. Young and impressionable, we followed in the footsteps of our mentors, grad students, and their idols: Corbu, Frank, Louis, Mies, Walter, and the whole Bauhaus crew. And for the visionaries, there was Rem, and his impressive S,M,L,XL.

This series of foldings doesnโ€™t pretend, in any way, to compare to the work of these masters. Itโ€™s simply an expression of the trace they left in my subconscious, and a small tribute to their legacy.

We all know these Masters had strong egos and, letโ€™s say, not the easiest personalities, so the pressure was real. So yes, I got a bit intimidated and pushed myself. And without false modesty, this is one of the series Iโ€™m most satisfied with.

Technically and conceptually, it follows the logic of the Archetypes series, but the level of complexity and difficulty is a notch, or two, higher.

Templates to Create 8 Models

The templates are available in multiple formats, so you can print and cut them by hand, or use a cutting machine like Cricut or Silhouette to speed up the process. Whether you're working with a craft knife or a digital blade, everything you need is included.
